Home-Sweet-Home

It is great to be back in Michigan. Grant and I flew back on March 27 and Jeremy's dad, Al, flew to New Orleans to help him drive the vehicles back to MI. They left Friday evening (March 28) and stopped in Birmingham, AL for the night. On Saturday, our car (2006 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP) started giving them trouble. It was having a hard time shifting gears and did not do well in the lower gears. It finally died 137 miles from home in Lima, OH. All they had at that point was 'park' and 'neutral'...no 'drive' or 'reverse'. Of course it was 8pm Sat. night so no U-haul, rental store, etc. was open to rent a tow-dolly from. They ended up towing it the rest of the way (137 miles!) with a tow-strap hooked up to Jeremy's S-10 pickup. The dealer looked at it on Monday and said that the transmission was destroyed, metal shavings everywhere. The warranty expired at 36,000mi of course! But, the dealer went to bat for us with GM because of the overall low milage for such a major failure. Ends up...we got a brand new transmission for only $500 out of pocket! We got it back Friday and it runs great again. We still love the car!
Quite the trip!! I'm so glad Grant and I were not along to experience it...and we are so thankful for all of Al's help!
